As a small business owner, there are so many aspects of this journey that I find to be extremely rewarding, and being able to help others in need through what I do is something that is truly near and dear to my heart. This year, I am so very happy to be able to contribute to The Shoebox Project.
"The Shoebox Project for Shelters, supported by Dream, collects and distributes gifts in the form of Shoeboxes to women who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in communities across Canada and the US. Each Shoebox is filled with items valued at $50 that any woman will likely enjoy, but may not splurge on for herself in difficult times." (learn more by vising www.shoeboxproject.com)
Supporting women of all ages and walks of life is something that is very important to me, and The Shoebox Project's mission resonates with me deeply. To me, lip balm has always been more than a utilitarian product to keep my lips soft - it's a self-care ritual that I cherish, that only takes a few seconds and that leaves me feeling a little more pampered and a bit more polished, even if I'm the only one who can tell I'm wearing it. My favorite flavour can uplift my spirits, and the creamy sensation of the balm is soothing in so many ways. Many of us are lucky to be able to have small luxuries such our favorite cosmetic stashed away in our bag, but for the women that the Shoebox Project helps, items that many of us might take for granted simply aren't within reach. But when they receive their shoebox, filled with little luxuries that have been handpicked by someone who has taken the time to assemble their favorite items to donate specifically to brighten a woman's day, it makes a huge impact on their lives, lets them know that they matter and that being pampered is something that they are most certainly worthy of.
This Christmas, I'm very happy that I will be able to donate lip balms to The Shoebox Project in Saint John, New Brunswick. I have pledged 50 tubes as a starting point, and with your help, I'm hoping to grow that number even more! From November 29 until December 12, I will be donating an additional lip balm for every gift set sold.
